Some people are born into money. Some people are born into power. Others are born to overcome incredible obstacles to become a force to be reckoned with. A force to be reckoned with only begins to describe Masha Malka. As an understated powerhouse of determination who has overcome incredible obstacles to achieve more than most people only dream of, Masha Malka continues to create a life that is worlds away from her upbringing. Masha Malka has defied the odds throughout her life. Leaving the only life, and country, she had known, Masha’s life turned upside down at the age of 17, when her family fled the Soviet Union as Jewish refugees. Stripped of their citizenship and deemed an enemy of the state, the family was only allowed to take the equivalent of $80 each and the clothes on their back when they fled their homeland. As a Jewish family, their initial destination was Israel. Yet, this was not in their destiny. The family was first sent to Vienna, a normal procedure at the time, where they would be processed and told which Western country might accept them. After several false starts, Masha’s family settled in the United States with little opportunity for work other than below minimum wage cleaning jobs. They soon found out what it was to live below the poverty line. Culturally lost and professionally unsure, Masha had turned from being confident and outgoing to being introverted and depressed, with little self-esteem. Adjusting to a new lifestyle was difficult, especially without the knowledge of the English language. Yet, Masha was determined to not let this stop her. Studying English as if her life depended upon it and securing various part-time jobs helped her make ends meet. Masha was committed to a different way of life. Salesperson, cashier, and assistant at the University of Miami, were a few of the many jobs she gave 100% to. Juggling 2-3 jobs at a time along with her studies, Masha graduated Miami Dade college with a scholarship in Math and chose to major in Education as she proceeded with her studies in Florida Atlantic University, graduating later with highest honors. However, despite being very busy and excelling in her studies, Masha had no idea what to do with her life, and, while America seemed like the land of plenty, it can also be a lonely place for one raised in a totally different system. It seemed, especially in the go-getting atmosphere of the United States, that all the people around her knew exactly what they wanted and where they were going. A turning point came, when, by chance, Masha came across a life-coaching tape by Brian Tracy. Consuming the information until the tape was no longer usable due to wear and tear, Masha discovered she had determination like nothing she had known before. She committed to do whatever it took to turn her life around. Splitting her time between studies and several part time jobs, Masha embarked upon a journey that has lasted her lifetime. With fire in her belly and a dream in her heart, nothing was going to stop Masha from fulfilling her destiny as an author, executive coach and sought-after speaker and trainer.
